Clear daytime vision without surgery

Orthokeratology
in Wesley Chapel & Jacksonville FL

Orthokeratology, also known as Ortho-K, is a non-surgical vision correction option that uses custom contact lenses worn overnight to temporarily improve vision during the day. For select patients, Ortho-K can reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses while awake.

Ortho-K is sometimes used for children and teens with myopia as part of a broader myopia management strategy, helping manage how nearsightedness progresses over time when appropriately prescribed and monitored.

By wearing custom-designed lenses overnight, patients may experience clear vision throughout the day without corrective eyewear. Ortho-K is a reversible option that requires consistent nightly wear and regular follow-up with an eye care professional.

What is Orthokeratology?

Orthokeratology uses specially designed, gas-permeable contact lenses worn during sleep to gently and temporarily reshape the cornea. While you sleep, the lenses alter how light enters the eye, allowing for clear vision when the lenses are removed in the morning. The effect typically lasts throughout the day.

In addition to correcting vision, Ortho-K may be used in certain children and adolescents as part of a myopia management approach. The corneal changes are temporary and fully reversible — if lens wear is discontinued, vision gradually returns to its previous state.
